Basic European and Polish regulations on woodworking machines
As regards the marketing of woodworking machines, the general provisions, discussed in the main module, apply and do not require additional explanation. More detailed information is contained in the harmonized standards.
Standards and other publications related to machine safety.
The European standardization bodies creating standards for woodworking machines are CEN and CENELEC.
In the case of CEN, it is especially the technical committee CEN / TC142 - Woodworking machines - Safety, whose scope of studies are safety standards for stationary and mobile machines for wood processing as well as cutting tools, tool holders and extraction systems.
There are currently over 30 standards developed by this technical committee. The next of these standards are currently being developed and adopted as ISO international standards under the ISO / TC39 / SC4 committee - Machine tools - Woodworking machines.
On the other hand, within the framework of CENELEC / TC116 technical committee - Safety of motor-operated electric tools, standards are developed for:
§ mobile machines - EN 61029 series of standards (including part 1 - general and 21 parts 2 - dependent)
§ hand-operated tools with electric drive - EN 60745 series of standards (including part 1 - general and 10 parts 2 - dependent)
General parts 1 of both of the above series of standards, as well as some of the dependent parts 2, apply to woodworking machines.
International standards are also important standards:
§ ISO 7984 regarding the technical classification of machine tools and auxiliary machines for woodworking developed by ISO / TC39 / SC4; and
§ ISO 7960 regarding the conditions for noise measurements of woodworking machines developed by ISO / TC39 / SC6 - Noise of machine tools.
